How Haymarket VA works, where the listings come from, and what we will and will not do.
What this is
A directory of the businesses serving Haymarket, Virginia and the surrounding Prince William County and Fauquier County communities. It is free to search and free to be listed in.
The aim is narrow and practical: when you need a plumber on a Sunday, or want to know whether the hardware store is still open, this should be the fastest way to find out.
How listings get here
Listings arrive two ways. Some are submitted by the business itself through the List your business form. Others are added by editors working from public sources. Either way a person reviews the entry before it appears, and nothing publishes automatically.
Our initial Haymarket listings were cross-checked against the Town of Haymarket business list. Address and contact fields came from the businesses' own websites or OpenStreetMap contributors. We leave a field blank when the source does not provide it.
What the verified badge means
A verified listing is one where an editor has confirmed the business name, street address, phone number and posted hours against a primary source.
That is the entire claim. It is not an endorsement, not a quality rating, and not a licensing check. It does not mean we have assessed the work, the pricing or the people.
Verification is free and cannot be purchased at any price or on any plan.
How we handle paid placement
Businesses can pay for a Pro or Premium listing. Those plans deliver every customer request rather than only the first three, and they rank higher in results.
Wherever a paid listing outranks an organic one, it carries a Sponsored label. We do not present paid placement as an organic ranking, and paying has no effect on whether a listing is verified.
Reviews
Reviews are written by visitors and read by a moderator before they appear. We publish critical reviews. We remove reviews that are abusive, off-topic, or written by someone with an undisclosed stake in the business. A business can reply to any review about it.
Aggregate ratings count only approved reviews.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, the Report an issue link on any profile reaches an editor. Businesses that have closed, moved or changed hours are the most common report and the most useful. We check every report against a primary source before changing anything.
