Review policy

Every review is moderated

Reviews do not appear immediately. Each one is read by a moderator first. This slows things down, and it is the only way we have found to keep the reviews worth reading.

What we publish

We publish first-hand accounts of an actual experience with a business, including critical ones. A negative review that describes what happened is exactly the kind of thing this directory exists to carry.

What we remove

• Reviews from someone with an undisclosed stake in the business, or in a competitor
• Reviews that are not about a first-hand experience with the business
• Personal attacks on named individuals, slurs and harassment
• Content that is off-topic, promotional, or posted repeatedly
• Anything that appears to be part of a coordinated campaign in either direction
• Reviews containing personal information about someone else

Ratings

A rating is 1 to 5 stars and is required. The aggregate rating on a profile counts approved reviews only. Pending and removed reviews are not counted.

Business responses

A business may reply once to any review about it. Replies are moderated on the same terms as reviews. We do not remove a review because the business disagrees with it.

Disputes

If you believe a review about your business breaks these rules, use the Report an issue link on the profile and tell us which rule and why. We will look at it. We will not remove an honest negative review, and we will not edit one to make it kinder.

Paid plans do not affect reviews

Buying a plan does not remove, hide, reorder or suppress any review, and it does not change your rating.
