These terms apply when you use haymarketva.com. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Using the directory

You may browse and search freely. You may not scrape the directory in bulk, resell the listing data, or use it to build a competing database.

Listing information is general information. We check what we reasonably can, and the Verified badge marks entries an editor has confirmed against a primary source, but we do not guarantee that any listing is accurate or current. Confirm details with the business before relying on them — particularly opening hours, which change.

Accounts

You must create an account to add or manage a business listing. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.

We may suspend or close an account that is used to submit false listings, to claim a business the holder is not authorized to represent, or to abuse other users.

Submitting a listing

By submitting a listing you confirm that you are authorized by that business to do so, and that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

We review every submission and may decline, edit or remove any listing at our discretion. Submitting a listing does not oblige us to publish it.

Claiming a listing

We verify claims by hand before transferring control of a listing. Submitting a claim does not by itself grant you rights over the listing.

Editing a listing you control removes its Verified badge until an editor re-checks the changes. That is deliberate: the badge records what we confirmed, not what was last entered.

Reviews and other contributions

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting a review you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, display and distribute it as part of the directory, including in excerpts and search results.

You agree that your review describes your own first-hand experience, that you have no undisclosed stake in the business or a competitor, and that it contains nothing unlawful and no one else's personal information. Our review policy governs what we publish and remove.

Photographs

By uploading a photograph you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights. You grant us the same licence described above, for use on the listing and in the directory.

Do not upload photographs of identifiable people without their consent. We remove photographs on request from a person shown in them.

Paid plans

Paid plans provide additional placement, delivery of every customer request, and a higher photo limit. They do not affect whether a listing is verified, and they never change how reviews are moderated. Paid placement is labeled as sponsored wherever it appears.

No payment is collected at present. Choosing a paid plan directs you to contact us. The billing terms below take effect when paid plans become purchasable on the site; until then, nothing in this section authorizes a charge.

Prices and what is billed

Prices are shown on the pricing page in US dollars and are exclusive of any applicable tax. Plans are billed monthly in advance, starting on the day you subscribe. That day becomes your renewal date each month; where a month has no matching day, we bill on its last day.

Automatic renewal, and how to stop it

Your plan renews automatically each month until you cancel. We will tell you the price, the billing period and the renewal date before you pay, and you must affirmatively agree to them.

You may cancel at any time from your account, without contacting us and without giving a reason. Cancellation stops the next renewal. It does not shorten the period you have already paid for — your plan keeps its features until the end of that period, then reverts to Free.

We will send a receipt for every charge.

Refunds

Because a plan is billed in advance for a period you then receive, we do not refund part of a month when you cancel mid-period. You keep the paid features until the period ends.

We will refund you in full where:

• we charged you after you cancelled, or charged the wrong amount
• a paid feature was unavailable for a significant part of the billing period
• you are charged for a renewal without the notice described above

Write to us through the contact page and we will put it right. Nothing here limits any refund right you have under Virginia law.

Price changes

We may change prices. An existing subscriber gets at least 30 days' notice before a change affects them, and the change takes effect at the following renewal. If you do not want the new price, cancel before that renewal and you will not be charged it.

If a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails we will tell you and retry over a short grace period. If it still does not succeed, the plan reverts to Free rather than being cancelled outright.

Your listing is not deleted, and your account is not closed, for non-payment.

What changes when a plan ends

Whether you cancel or a payment fails, the listing reverts to the Free plan and:

• Photos above the Free limit are hidden, not deleted. Restore a paid plan and they reappear. Ask us and we will delete them permanently.
• Customer requests follow the Free rule again: the first three that business ever received stay readable, and later ones are locked until you upgrade. Requests you could already read do not become unreadable.
• Placement returns to the unpaid ordering, and your website link returns to `nofollow`.
• Reviews, hours, photos within the limit and the listing itself are untouched.

Tax

Prices exclude tax. Where we are required to collect sales or use tax, it is added at checkout and shown separately on your receipt.

Chargebacks

If you dispute a charge with your bank, please contact us first. We would rather refund a charge that was wrong than contest it. While a chargeback is open we may suspend the paid features on the listing.

Business use

Paid plans are sold for use in a business, not for personal or household use.

Guides on this site are general information, not professional, legal, medical or financial advice. Verify any contractor's licence and insurance, and any clinician's credentials, with the relevant Virginia authority before engaging them.

Dealings with businesses listed here

The directory helps you find a business. It is not a party to anything you then agree with that business. We do not screen businesses for quality, do not guarantee any work, and are not responsible for a transaction between you and a business you found here. Disputes are between you and them.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent Virginia law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, that it will be free of errors, or that any listing, review or guide is accurate, complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent Virginia law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the site — whether the claim is in contract, tort or otherwise, and even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Virginia law, including liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising out of content you submit, your breach of these terms, or your violation of the rights of another person.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Prince William County, Virginia, and you and we each consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. If you are a consumer, nothing here deprives you of the protection of any mandatory law that would otherwise apply.

Before filing, please tell us about it. Most disputes about a listing or a review are resolved in a day by an editor, and we would rather fix the problem than argue about it.

Removing your listing or account

Ask us through the contact page to close your account or remove a listing you control, and we will do it. We may also remove a listing or close an account for breach of these terms, and will say why.

If part of these terms does not hold

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is applied as narrowly as the law allows.

Changes

We may change these terms. If the change is material we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
